A Spanish Garnacha red wine from the Calatayud region. Judged as "outstanding" by the wine pope" Robert Parker. And rightfully so!
A wonderful jet-black impressive red wine with an abundance of flavours such as raspberry, figs, almonds and sweet wood. A red wine with ageing potential, as well as from the fairytale vintage of 2005.
A vintage for which Robert Parker awarded excellent marks and with which everything is simply right: the tannin structure, the acid and shelf-life. Whoever wants to drink or give away a marvellous highly awarded red wine at a bargain price simply must snap this up. A Garnacha red wine from a vintage which ranks amongst the best in the past decades! Clearly such a wine with this Parker quality grade is only available on the market in small and limited quantities. Historia has set aside a quota for this exclusive edition in wooden winemaker boxes.
Calatayud - the wine region in Spain! The flavour formation in the grapes is especially encouraged by the very continental climate in Calatayud with very cold winters and hot summers.
The Castillo de Maluenda wines are therefore very fruity with velvet soft tannins and belong to the absolute purchase recommendations of the US-American wine critics and publishers of the wine magazine " The Wine Advocate". Castillo de Maluenda prefers a cultivation system providing more than 5,000 - 6,000 vines per hectare, so that only very small quantities are harvested per vine. The high average age of the vines also makes only small yields possible, but provides for the optimal quality of the grapes. The yield per hectare is below 50-60 hl per hectare.
This beguiling deep red wine is unusually dense, fruity and elegant with the typical Spanish Terroir. After first maturing for many years in American oak barrels then in the bottle, this wonderful Garnacha is now ripe for drinking for the next 3 years.
